Lowell Man Charged In Celebrity Extortion Scheme

BOSTON (CBS) - A Lowell man was in court Tuesday accused of trying to extort a well-known Boston celebrity.

The case centers around what happened at Venu Night Club.

Court records show that Felix Paulino was at the club in October when he gathered allegedly incriminating evidence against a man known in court papers as "John Doe -a well-known Boston personality."

According to the records, Paulino took video that depicted John Doe talking to several young women and attempting to lure them into his room.

Paulino is accused of taping the celeb at the club and then calling the man's agent, demanding money.

Paulino allegedly told the agent he would sell the three-minute video to entertainment website TMZ for $20,000.

In court, Paulino's mother wept openly as a judge read her son his rights. Paulino told his mother "I didn't do nothing wrong."
