Top 2014 Holiday Concerts In Philadelphia

With December just around the corner, jumping into the holiday spirit is a must for many of us, and there's no better way to do that than with some musical cheer. Holiday spirit is easy to find in Philly - see below for a listing of some of the best concerts in the area that'll have you humming Christmas tunes in no time.

This festive annual holiday party is returning with one of its biggest lineups in its history. Jingle Ball's 2014 star-studded event will include performances by Ariana Grande, Sam Smith, Iggy Azalea, Meghan Trainor, One Republic, Rita Ora and more. This year's event will take place at the Wells Fargo Center on December 10. Buying a ticket doesn't just mean guaranteed fun – you'll also be contributing to charity. One dollar of each ticket sold will be donated to the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, an organization that inspires youth through education and entertainment.

All throughout the month of December, Longwood Gardens is putting on special holiday performances. From organ sing-alongs to a Celtic Christmas show, Longwood Gardens has a calendar jam-packed with the holiday spirit. The Longwood organist plays daily (up to six times a day) and leads the crowd in a holiday-driven sing-along (and it's free with a garden ticket). Don't miss the Philadelphia Orchestra perform the "Glorious Sounds of Christmas" this December. The famed orchestra will play three nights with conductor Bramwell Tovey, who is back from 2012. This is a must-see concert and is the perfect way to begin your holiday celebrations. The orchestra will perform many traditional holiday tunes and Tovey's own arrangements/improvisations. Storytelling (especially a moving rendition of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas") will also make its way into the show.

The Philly POPS "Christmas Spectacular" returns this December for eight performances in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center of the Performing Arts. Led by David Charles Abell, the Philly POPS present a festive show that will include three choirs and over 300 musicians bringing your favorite seasonal tunes to life. And it wouldn't be a Philly POPS "Christmas Spectacular" without the popular audience sing-along. Philadelphia-born Hugh Panaro will join the Pops this year, too.

For a special performance featuring the Reflections of the Rat Pack, head to the Sellersville Theater on December 14. "A Rat Pack Christmas" bring the famous voices of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. alive in their remarkable performances. The singers reproduce the three singers' voices and this tribute will also put you in the holiday spirit with the recreation of popular Christmas songs.
