Charges: Apple Valley Car Wash Employee Swindled Nearly $350K

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 46-year-old Apple Valley woman allegedly stole nearly $350,000 from the car wash where she worked at between 2008 and 2012.

Connie Marie Rogers has been charged with nine counts of felony theft by swindle, and one count of gross misdemeanor theft by swindle, in connection with the loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars from Paradise Car Wash.

According to the criminal complaint, Rogers stole by fraudulently writing excess payroll checks to herself while she was employed as the company controller. When confronted in December 2012 by the manager and owner, she admitted she would issue excess payroll checks to herself and then void the checks so that they would not show up on her W-2 statements.

To cover up these payments, Rogers said she would transfer money from one account to another in lump sums.

She claimed she needed the money to help pay health insurance and medical expenses.
