San Bernardino Co. Deputy Wounded While Serving Eviction Notice

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — A San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputy was wounded Tuesday morning while serving an eviction notice, officials said.

Two court services deputies were serving the notice around 10:15 a.m. at a home in the 1400 block of East Date Street when a suspect vehicle approached the patrol car and and fired, San Bernardino police said.

One deputy suffered at least one gunshot wound, officials said.

"They did return fire," Lt. Paul Williams of the SBPD said.

The injured deputy was transported by police to Loma Linda University Medical Center in stable condition.

"He's stable. He's gonna be fine," Lt. Williams said.

Miguel Alvarez, 33, of San Bernardino was interviewed and booked at West Valley Detention Center for attempted murder.He was being on $1 million bail.

A search was underway for any outstanding suspects. It was unclear if any suspects were wounded in the shooting.

Nearby Hunt Elementary School was placed on lockdown as a precaution, officials said.
