Suspect In Denver Shooting, Carjackings Turns Self In To Police
DENVER (CBS4) - A man who police say was responsible for a shooting and several carjackings in Denver has turned himself in to police.
Police said Alejandro Theodore Noel, 20, was taken into custody Tuesday evening.
Noel is suspected of shooting a man sitting in a vehicle in the 1400 block of Newton Street early Monday evening and then carjacking several different cars. After the shooting the suspect fled and then wrecked a van in the 1500 block of Meade Street.
Neighbor Peggy Franklin said the suspect had been looking for a fight with the victim and had even driven by the victim's house the day before the shooting.
"On Sunday he drove by in a vehicle with somebody and he was going to pull out a gun -- because we heard the kid saying, don't pull out that gun," Franklin said.
Police believe Noel then carjacked a Ford Escort on Meade Street. He then allegedly carjacked a postal truck at West 24th Avenue and Irving Street and then another car at West 29th Street and Irving.
The shooting victim remains in the hospital and has been upgraded from critical to fair condition.
Noel does not have a criminal record in Colorado and they don't believe the shooting is gang-related.
