LAUSD To Kick Of School Year With New iPads, Lunch Items

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles Unified School District students will return to some changes when they head back to school the week of Aug. 12.

"The goal is to continue really the remarkable work that we're doing in the transformation of the LAUSD," Superintendent John Deasy told KNX1070.

LAUSD Students To Return To Some New Changes In The Classroom

"We are putting new additions on our lunch menu, and I think what's interesting about this is a number of these dishes are actually created by students in a contest," Deasy said.

Some other changes include the first wave of iPads in classrooms.

"So many of the students have a high facility for how to use the technology, and the teachers of course have the high facility of the content. So it's going to be a rather remarkable match," Deasy said. "I'm incredibly proud of the fact that we are leading the way in California on this."
