5-Month-Old Boy Found Dead In Carson

CARSON (CBSLA.com) — Detectives Monday were investigating the death of a 5-month-old boy who was found dead in his family's SUV in Carson.

The boy's father, who is a security guard, called officials just after 2 p.m. who responded to the residence in the 19000 block of Cliveden Avenue.

"He was away from the home and realized the child may have been unintentionally left in the vehicle and called the Carson station," Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Lt. Dave Coleman said. "You never rule out foul play because this is very, very preliminary."

Officials broke the back windshield of the Chevy Tahoe and attempted to resuscitate the baby. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

"It's got to be a freak accident, I can't see no person out there do anything deliberate to their child," a neighbor said.

The parents of the child are married and have five to six children, authorities said.

The cause of death was under investigation.
