6 Critically Hurt In 'Horrific' Northridge Crash Involving Vehicles, Pedestrians

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — Six people were injured Wednesday evening in a crash in the San Fernando Valley.

The "horrific" crash occurred around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Tampa and Roscoe in Northridge. Officials said three vehicles were involved and pedestrians were also injured.

Suzie Suh, reporting for KCAL9, said "There is debris everywhere."

She also said there was a possibility the accident started as a case of road rage. Investigators are on the scene trying to figure out what happened.

Several witnesses described the crash as "horrific."

A witness told Suh that a blue truck was making a left turn, spun out of control -- hit three women who were waiting at a bus stop -- and crashed into a pole. He then said he saw the driver of a white sedan t-bone a minivan.

Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to extricate some of the victims, three males and three females, who ranged in age from 22-80.

The witness added, "There were people screaming, smoke flying. My heart was going 100 miles per hour. Very scary. I thought those cars were coming right at me."

He added that two of the vehicles were going at a very high rate of speed.
