Corona Special Needs Teacher Faces 16 Felony Counts For Allegedly Having Sex With Students

CORONA (CBSLA.com/AP) — Prosecutors have filed 16 felony counts against a 31-year-old Riverside County high school teacher suspected of having sex with students on school grounds.

The District Attorney's office said Tuesday that the charges against Summer Michelle Hansen include unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and unlawful oral copulation with a minor.

Hansen, who taught special education classes at Centennial High School, was arrested in June. She posted $150,000 bond and was released from jail. If convicted, Hansen could face up to 13 years in state prison.

Prosecutors say five victims under the age of 18, who allegedly had sexual contact with the teacher on school grounds, were identified. The crimes allegedly took place between May 2012 through May 2013 in Hansen's classroom, a utility room at the school, her vehicle while it was parked near one victim's home and at another victim's house, authorities said.

None of the alleged victims were her students.

Hansen, who has been placed on leave, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
