Longtime Totino-Grace Teacher Comes Out, Now No Longer With School

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A catholic school in Fridley is making news once again, and again the story centers around an instructor's sexuality.

A spokesperson for Totino-Grace High School confirmed Monday that Kristen Ostendorf is no longer with the school. The English teacher and lacrosse coach had been with the school for 18 years. This comes after Ostendorf came out as being gay.

Via OutFront Minnesota, Ostendorf released a statement, saying, "I can confirm that I am no longer employed by Totino-Grace. I am profoundly sad to have to leave a job I have loved for more than eighteen years in a community that was like family to me."

This comes two months after Dr. Bill Hudson resigned from the school after publicly coming out as gay. Just last week, he sat down with our Esme Murphy for his first TV interview.

He said it was an "enormous relief" not to have to hide his 18-year relationship.
