Frigid February Ties Cold Record

(CBS) -- The Chicago area received a light amount of snow Saturday and the frigid temperatures helped set a record for February.

The National Weather Service says this February tied the coldest February in Chicago history with 1875. The average temperature was 14.6 degrees.

Parts of the Chicago area received a little bit of snow by Sunday morning. O'Hare, Palos Park and Downers Grove each received .4 inches of snow according to the NWS. Further south, Kankakee received 1.5 inches of snow.

Sunday's high is forecast to be 29 degrees and there is also a chance for snow.
