Dodgers' Announcer Vin Scully Named 2014 Tournament Of Roses Grand Marshal

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — Dodgers play-by-play announcer Vin Scully will be the Grand Marshal of the 2014 Tournament of Roses.

Tournament of Roses President Scott Jenkins made the announcement Thursday morning.

"I am deeply humbled and greatly honored to be the Grand Marshal of the 125th Rose Parade," Scully said. "I look forward to sharing this wonderful moment with my wife, Sandi, and the millions who will be watching."

Vin Scully Named 2014 Tournament Of Roses Grand Marshal

The 85-year-old has been announcing for the Dodgers since 1950 when the team was in Brooklyn, and he has recently decided he will return to the broadcast booth in Los Angeles for his 65th season in 2014.

He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982.

Scully, along with Elizabeth Montgomery, were co-hosts of the Tournament of Roses Parade in 1967.

As the Grand Marshal, Scully will get to flip the ceremonial coin at the 100th Rose Bowl Game.

The 125th Rose Parade, themed "Dreams Come True", will be held Jan. 1, 2014.
