Former Rialto District Accountant Charged With Embezzling $1.8M
SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Charges were filed Tuesday against a former Rialto Unified School District employee suspected of stealing $1.8 million over an eight year period, authorities said.
Former school accountant Judith Oakes, 48, was charged with eight counts of embezzlement by a public or private officer and eight counts of public officer crime, according to the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office.
Oakes was arrested Aug. 7 after school video recorded her stuffing school lunch money into her bra.
If convicted, she could face 11 years in state prison.
