Man Rescued From North Avenue Beach
(STMW) -- A man who jumped into Lake Michigan on the North Side was rescued early Sunday.
The Chicago Fire Department and city's Marine Unit responded to North Avenue Beach near the 1600 block of North Lake Shore Drive about 3:50 a.m. and pulled the man out of the water shortly after arriving, authorities said.
The man, thought to be in his 40s or 50s, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition had stabilized, police said.
Police added the incident was a suicide attempt.
