Health: Parents Who Smoke Could Increase Their Children's Risk Of Heart Disease

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Bad news for families with smokers.

Children exposed to smoking may have a higher risk of heart disease later in life.

Researchers in Finland found kids of smokers were almost two-to-four times more likely to develop plaque in key arteries.

Those scientists saw the increased risk even when parents tried to limit their children's exposure.

The study is published in the American Heart Association journal Circulation.
