McDonald's To Accept 'Love' For Payment

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - McDonald's is giving a customers the opportunity to "Pay With Lovin" in a new instant win game.

The fast food giant, which has the advertising jingle "I'm Loving It," announced the new promotion on YouTube with the company's Super Bowl ad.

McDonald's will roll out the promotion beginning Feb 2, 2015, with randomly selected customers will be able to pay for their order with "Lovin."

Customers will be asked to execute a random act of Lovin' and may include things like fist bumping with employees, calling a loved one, sharing what they love about their significant other, blowing a kiss, or "other general sentiment or Lovin' Act," according to the official rules.

The promotion ends Feb. 14.

McDonald's new promotion comes during a time of change for the Golden Arches. On Wednesday, president and CEO Don Thompson announced he was stepping down and Steve Easterbrook will take his place.

The company has seen a drop in customer traffic last year to fall 3.6 percent globally, with 4.1 percent drop in the United States, according to a story by Marketwatch. Additionally, McDonald's reported a 21 percent drop in fourth-quarter earnings.
