Chris Christie Gives Daughter The Boot To Help Rangers' Karma

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is calling in the reserves to bring the Rangers some luck Friday night at Madison Square Garden.

Christie says he'll be sitting in the same seats that he had for Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, to WFAN co-host Boomer Esiason's dismay. But the governor has an ace up his sleeve for the deciding Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals.

"Listen, this is the way I'm changing the karma: one of my kids that I brought for Game 5, kicked her out," Christie said Friday morning on the "Boomer & Carton" show.

"The thing is, I have four kids, so I've got another one to sub in," he added.

Christie said he'll be bringing both his sons, but his daughter, Sarah, "is bad karma" and a healthy scratch for the game. She'll watch from home with her mother -- if they can bear to sit through what's sure to be a nail-biter.

He's hoping young Bridget will change New York's fortunes. The Rangers have dropped two of three games to the Lightning at home.

"Bridget, our 11-year-old, she is fired up, ready for tonight," Christie said. "She sends off to school this morning, she looked at me before she left and she said, 'Dad, see ya for Game 7.' "

Christie said he'll again be wearing a blue pull-over sweater, but not the same one as before.

So why not his famous orange top?

"That good-luck sweater is restricted to a different sport and a different team," said Christie, referring to his beloved Dallas Cowboys.

Christie also spent a few moments talking about his participation in Boomer & Carton's June 3 charity softball game at Yankee Stadium to benefit the families of fallen NYPD officers Brian Moore, Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu. Listen to the entire interview:
