Carli Lloyd Puts Delran, NJ On Map With Historic World Cup Final Performance

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Not one. Not two. But three, is the number of goals U.S. Women's soccer star Carli Lloyd scored in the first 16 minutes of Sunday night's World Cup Final against Japan.

For Lloyd, the Delran, New Jersey native, it was the first-ever hat trick in a Women's World Cup final and the quickest-ever hat trick, according to FiveThirtyEight.com.

Lloyd, 32, prides herself in being a role model for kids in the area.

"I think this is what it is all about," said Lloyd after speaking to children in 2012 at the JCC camp in Medford, New Jersey. "It's giving back to the community, it's being a live role model. I wish I had somebody that I could have looked up to as a role model when I was playing at a younger age."

The U.S. scored four goals in the first 20 minutes, faster than any one goal had been scored in a Women's World Cup Final, en route to a 5-2 win.

Lloyd gained approximately 60,000 Twitter followers and 100,000 Instagram followers, winning the World Cup's Golden Ball Award as the most outstanding player. According to ESPN.com, Lloyd's appearance fee went from $15,000 after the semi-finals to $30,000.

"It'll be wild when I get back to Jersey," Lloyd said after winning the World Cup. "I might have to stay inside my house for a few days."
