Blast Of Cold Weather Brings Spring Snow, Rain To Metro Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A blast of cold weather is bringing a mix of spring snow and rain to Michigan.

Metro Detroiters woke up Tuesday to a coating of snow on grass and slushy roads after the weather system moved in overnight. Most areas received a dusting but conditions were worse in areas north of the city, where white-out conditions were reported for a short time.

The National Weather Service reported four inches of snow in Pontiac, Lapeer and Armada; three inches in Clarkston and Algonac; and more than two inches of snow in Roseville.

Luckily, the snow isn't here to stay. Warmer temperatures are to return as the week goes forward.

"After some light rain and snow, temperatures will climb into the upper 40s and close to 50 in some areas," said CBS 62 Chief Meteorologist Jim Madaus. "Tomorrow morning we'll have warmer temperatures rolling into the Great Lakes area and it will eventually turn sunny for Wednesday."

The rain might return on Thursday, Madaus said, with the potential for an afternoon thunderstorm and highs around 69 degrees.

"It's the warmest day of the week but we'll have a chance of rain and windy conditions," Madaus said.
