Roger Goodell's Maine Home Eyed By Police In Wake Of Tom Brady Ruling

SCARBOROUGH, Maine (CBS/AP) - Police have been asked to keep an eye on NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's $6.5 million house on the Maine coast, according to a published report.

Scarborough Police Chief Robbie Moulton told the Portland Press Herald that the NFL contacted them Tuesday, when Goodell's decision to uphold the four-game suspension of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was announced.

"They did reach out and let us know about the decision and that it might not be popular," Moulton told the paper.

Goodell has vacationed for years in Scarborough and recently built a home on Prout's Neck.

The chief declined to say whether Goodell was at his home Wednesday.

"The Scarborough Police Department is not providing, nor were we requested to provide, any private security to Commissioner Goodell's home. No taxpayer funds are being utilized," the police department said in a statement to WBZ-TV Wednesday afternoon.

These types of requests are not new for Scarborough police.

"In the past, when there have been unpopular decisions, there have been emails and things. I wouldn't say it rose to the level of threats, but certainly expressing unhappiness," Moulton told the paper.

In upholding the Super Bowl MVP's suspension, Goodell said Brady destroyed evidence in connection with the probe into whether he was involved in the deflation of footballs in the AFC championship game.
