Report: Patrick Kane's Lawyer Argues On Facebook, Urges Everyone To Withhold Judgment

(CBS) The lawyer for Patrick Kane has left Facebook comments defending the Blackhawks star against rape allegations and urging everyone to not rush to a decision, according to Deadspin, which obtained screenshots of the online back-and-forth.

Paul Cambria has generally responded with "no comment" when asked about the rape investigation surrounding Kane that stems from a woman accusing him of sexual assault in the early morning hours of Aug. 2 at his suburban Buffalo home after they met at a bar. On Facebook, though, Cambria has engaged others after blogger Alan Bedenko posted an article regarding Kane's driver that night, Thomas English -- who's also a police officer who was off-duty at the time -- and how he would've been better served not talking to the media.

Among his complaints, Cambria appears to have taken issue with friends of the accuser commenting to the media while remaining anonymous.

"If someone wants to make a statement why not identify yourself (sic)," Cambria wrote. "Well anyway as I said keep an open mind."

Cambria also indicated Marc Croce, owner of the bar that Kane was at that night, had nothing to gain by defending the star player. Kane had been scheduled to take the Stanley Cup to Croce's bar, but that appearance was cancelled after the allegations surfaced.

Croce largely defended Kane to the Buffalo News shortly after this story broke, saying a young woman was "hanging all over" Kane that night. It's not clear if that was even the same woman who's the accuser.

"Croce has nothing to gain he is too big for that petty stuff," Cambria wrote on Facebook.

Cambria urged everyone to withhold judgment.

"Don't prejudge either side," Cambria wrote. "Only the people there know the real skinny Time will tell (sic)."

Kane is being investigated but hasn't been charged.
