Fans Celebrate House Music At Chosen Few Old School Reunion Picnic

(CBS) -- As the nation celebrates its independence, the Chosen Few DJs are again hosting the Chosen Few Picnic Weekend, a house music festival celebrating Chicago's homegrown dance genre, through Sunday.

The signature event of the weekend is the 25th annual Chosen Few Old School Reunion Picnic on Saturday in Jackson Park, 63rd and Hayes Drive, Chicago. What started as a small reunion of a few friends from the early days of house music has grown into one of the largest house music festival events in the world, drawing more than 45,000 dance music fans each year.

For the 25th anniversary, the Chosen Few Picnic features live performances from Stephanie Mills, Evelyn "Champagne" King and Cory Daye, plus guest DJs Masters At Work duo Louie Vega and Kenny Dope Gonzalez, Derrick Carter, Stan Zeff, Keith Fobs and Greg Gray. A surprise guest performance also is planned.

Picnic entertainment also includes sets by the Chosen Few DJs: Wayne Williams, Jesse Saunders, Tony Hatchett, Alan King, Andre Hatchett, Terry Hunter and Mike Dunn. CFP25 festivities also comprise nightly parties and other events throughout the holiday weekend, which began with a lunchtime dance party at Daley Plaza on Wednesday.
