Derrick Rose A Gametime Decision Tuesday After MRI Comes Back Clean
(CBS) An MRI on Bulls point guard Derrick Rose's right leg came back clean Monday, coach Fred Hoiberg said, and he'll be a gametime decision ahead of Tuesday's game against the Bucks after sitting out the past three games with right hamstring tendonitis that also led to swelling around his right knee.
Rose was a partial participant in Monday's practice, sitting out most of the live activity.
"There was no structural damage," Hoiberg said.
"More than anything, it was just ruling something out with the soreness he's had. Like we talked about yesterday, the hamstring feels a lot better. The swelling in the knee has gone down. He just had a little bit of soreness, weakness in it yesterday when he did some of the testing before the game, so we took a cautious approach with it."
Rose sat out Sunday's 115-113 win at Toronto, where wing Jimmy Butler rallied Chicago with a franchise-record 40 points in the second half and 42 in total. Rose hasn't played since last Monday's home win against the Raptors.
The Bulls are also still waiting on big man Joakim Noah, who's been out two weeks with a sprained left shoulder. The hope was he could get cleared Monday when being re-evaluated, but that wasn't the case. The promising news is that surgery has been "definitely" ruled out, Hoiberg said.
"He's still not ready, still not comfortable with Jo," Hoiberg said. "If he gets his arm in a vulnerable position, it could cause some damage. He's not quite ready. He's getting evaluated. It's daily now."
