All Lanes Reopened On Highway 101 In Burlingame After Emergency Repairs
BURLINGAME (CBS SF) -- All lanes of U.S. Highway 101 in the Burlingame/Millbrae area have reopened Monday morning after being closed 6 hours for emergency repairs.
At about 4:15 a.m., the highway's southbound lanes from Millbrae Avenue in Millbrae to Poplar Avenue in San Mateo and the northbound lanes from Anza Boulevard to Broadway in Burlingame reopened, according to California Highway Patrol.
The Broadway over-crossing bridge will remain closed until noon Monday, as well as the northbound and southbound off-ramps from Highway 101 to Broadway, CHP officials said.
The highway lanes had been closed since 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, as utility crews finished replacing damaged power lines, according to California Highway Patrol.
The projected time for the highway's reopening had originally been scheduled for 4 a.m. Officials later changed that time 5 a.m., just before 3 p.m. Monday morning,
Crews have been working on replacing the damaged lines after a construction crane crashed into a transmission tower Friday around 9:30 p.m., leaving high voltage lines blocking the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 101.
The highway remained closed Friday night and Saturday morning, but reopened Saturday afternoon, as crews prepared for the planned Sunday night closure.
