Police Arrest Student After Search For Possible Gun At East High

DENVER (CBS4) - Police in Denver rushed to East High School on reports of a possible party with a gun just before 2 p.m. on Thursday. The school was cleared at 3:30 p.m. and one student was arrested.

Police tweeted that the school was cleared. Two students were detained.

Police tweeted that one student was arrested for aggravated robbery. That student has not been identified.

According to police, a student tried to rob another student and brought out a BB gun.

Just before 2 p.m., police tweeted there were no shots fired and no injuries but started an investigation at the school.

Police did not clarify whether it was a student or another person who may have brought the gun to the school.

Copter4 flew over the school where there was a large police presence.

Students described a scary situation.

"I was in my room retaking a math quiz and a couple of kids just walked out and they came running back in, screaming and they said the security guards told them to run back in right away," said East High School student Max Kelley.

Police continued to search inside the school for the next hour.

Kelley said everyone followed the active shooter scenario they had practiced at school.

"So we did our procedure, we blocked the door and crowded against the wall, then our teacher was able to open the window because we are on the first floor and we were able to just get out and we walked over here so now... we've been here since and there a lot of cops came," said Kelley.
