The Detroit Tigers made the first big splash in free agency on Sunday, reaching a deal with starter Jordan Zimmermann.
Reports surfaced late Saturday night that the Tigers and Zimmermann had begun "serious talks" about the right-hander signing with Detroit.
CBS's Jon Heyman is now reporting that Zimmermann and The Tigers have agreed to a deal.
The 29-year-old has spent his entire seven-year career with the Washington Nationals. He was selected as an All-Star in 2013 and 2014.
Zimmermann posted a 13-10 record, a 3.66 ERA and 164 strikeouts in 201 1/3 innings in 2015.
