The Wissahickon Valley Park Trail, also known as the Forbidden Drive, is relaxing and beautiful. This trail is seven miles in length and has several paths with gravel and stones throughout. The well traveled passage is accompanied by the Wissahickon Creek, and very friendly to folks looking to hike, ride their bike, or take a simple walk. The Forbidden Drive is surely an urban gem in the city.

The Schuylkill Banks Boardwalk is the perfect trail to go for a walk and enjoy the city. With access to Center City,  you can use it for leisure or as a means to get to work. This 2000 foot over-the-water boardwalk is a part of the Schuylkill River Trail and located between Locust Street and South Street Bridge. Also, the Schuylkill Banks have a great feature in the solar-powered overhead lights, which makes for a beautiful sight in the evening.

Green Ribbon Trail is a alluring trail just outside of Philadelphia. It runs 12.6 miles from Parkside in Upper Gwynedd to Stenton Ave in Whitemarsh. This trail is definitely worth a try with a variety of parks in the area, including Parkside Place and Fort Washington State Park. This portion of the trail has been protected by the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association for over 50 years and also has access to natural areas. Keep in mind this path only allows walking, but you will surely see beautiful natural life.

Cynwyd Heritage Trail is a smaller trail outside of Philadelphia paved with asphalt and crushed stone. This 2-mile trail connects Lower Merion to Manayunk and is most popularly accessed through the Bala Cynwyd Park. It is a great space for children and carefree activity. The scenery is wonderful and clean as a result of The Friends of Cynwyd Heritage Trail, the volunteer community that cares for the grounds and holds park activities.

The Haverford Reserve Walking Trails are located in Haverford, PA. This site has a variety of trails made of asphalt and dirt. It's an ideal location for folks who enjoy jogging. Plus, if you need some adventure, there's always off-road biking. There are various trails that add up to over 5 miles of traveling space split between the North and South side of the Haverford Reserve, including the Veterans, Northbrook, Peco and Old Gray trails, just to name a few. This trail also has a community of volunteers called the Friends of Haverford Trails. They are tasked with keeping the park areas clean and have been adding signs to help with navigation.
