Concord Dental Assistant Arrested For Alleged Molestation Of Young Patients

CONCORD (CBS SF) -- Police in Concord on Thursday announced the arrest of a dental assistant suspected touching and taking videos of multiple young victims while they were under sedation, according to authorities.

Concord police officers began their investigation on Saturday when a female juvenile victim was brought to the police department by a relative. The girl said that she was in an exam room at a dental office in Concord – La Clinica Monument at 2000 Sierra Road – when a male dental assistant allegedly touched and photographed her vaginal area.

The relative brought the juvenile to police immediately after learning of the incident. Detectives with the department's Special Victims Unit investigated the case and arrested the dental assistant, 24-year-old Antioch resident Alejandro Saro.

Saro was arrested for several charges of child molestation by force. Evidence seized during the investigation indicated that there may be additional victims who were touched and video'd while sedated by medical gas.

Saro was employed as a dental assistant at La Clinica Monument in March of 2015. He was also employed by Patino Orthodontics at 2751 Concord Boulevard and Western Dental at 1821 Concord Avenue – both in Concord – and a branch of Western Dental in Antioch.

On Thursday, La Clinica released a statement addressing the arrest of the employee.

"La Clinica takes the safety of its patients very seriously, and is cooperating fully with the officials who are investigating this matter," the statement read. "For the privacy of our patience and all concerned, we cannot comment further."

Saro is currently being held at the Martinez Detention Facility on $8.1 million bail.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Concord Police Department Special Victims Unit via their hot line at 925-603-5836.
