Silk City Diner has a long history in Philadelphia, going back to the early 1950s. While it closed down temporarily when the original management put it up for sale in 2006, it reopened shortly after under new ownership and with a revamped look in 2007. A truly unique spot, it combines three distinct areas – diner, beer garden and lounge. So you can enjoy a great burger, and then spend the rest of the night dancing away. The lounge stays open until 2 a.m. on event nights, offering DJs, live entertainment, parties and drink specials just about every night of the week. With brunch offered both in the diner and beer garden on weekends (and a killer brunch drink menu to boot) you can return the next morning for a bit of the hair of the dog.

Dining at Cuba Libre is a bit like going on vacation in Old Havana … without actually leaving Old City. Complete the getaway experience by sticking around after dinner to enjoy a Latin dance party. From 10:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, Cuba Libre is transformed into a chic dance club with special guest DJs. Brush up on your salsa dancing during "Latin Fridays" featuring free admission, drink specials until midnight and $150 Ciroc bottle service (one of the best deals in the city.) While you're still going to hear more Latin music than Top 40 or any other genre, "Bailamos Saturdays" features a blend of music to appeal to a diverse clientele. The Saturday night cover charge is $10, but if you sign up on the online guest list by 8 p.m., you can take $5 off.

Step into The Trestle Inn and back into the age of disco and go-go dancers. The Trestle Inn is a retro-inspired bar and dance club featuring music from the 60s and 70s, live entertainment and plenty of whiskey, plus other classic cocktails, craft beer and snacks. The Trestle Special Mod Go Go Dancers perform every Thursday through Saturday night. After watching the pros shimmy and shake, you can take to the dance floor yourself with music from a variety of guest DJs playing a mix of funk, garage, soul, R&B and classic disco. There's no cover except for special events. While the main entertainment happens between 9 p.m. and 12 a.m. on Thursdays and 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, you can always stop in early for happy hour special from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Located in Rittenhouse, Rumor is an upscale night club offering four distinct bar areas, two dance floors, incredible sound systems and a private VIP vault and cocktail lounge. Since there are multiple dance rooms and guest DJs available, you get a wide variety of music with a mix of hip-hop, house, Top 40 and EDM. Entry is free on Thursdays, but you'll pay a $20 cover on Fridays and Saturdays unless you get the Friday night reduced-price tickets online. If you know you're going to have more than a couple of drinks, the open bar ticket for $30 on Friday nights (from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m.) is the way to go. The crowd at Rumor typically skews younger (mid 20s to 30), and you'll want to dress to impress as there's an enforced dress code.

Part piano bar, part restaurant and part dance club, there are many reasons that Tavern on Camac is a longtime favorite in Philly. In fact, it's been a piano bar since 1935. The three-story venue houses an intimate tavern serving American pub fare on the first floor, a piano bar on the second, and a dance club called Ascend on the top. Ascend is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., offering different themes/events each night such as Showtune Sundays, karaoke on Tuesdays and DJ entertainment on Friday and Saturday. Drink specials vary by night. The atmosphere is friendly and the music selection is a good variety, so Tavern on Camac attracts all kinds of people, but it's primarily known as a gay-friendly bar.
