Seventeen Protesters Arrested Near NFL Draft Town Site

(CBS) -- Seventeen women were arrested for a protest Saturday that briefly shut down Lake Shore Drive just outside NFL Draft Town.
Demonstrators were dressed in black with fuchsia berets, standing in the middle of Lake Shore at Jackson in the rain, chained together.
They are part of a group called the Collective, according to protester who goes by the name of Tweak, and organizations within it include Black Lives Matter and Assata's Daughters.
The group is calling for the firing of Dante Servin, a Chicago police officer found not guilty of manslaughter after he shot into a crowd while off duty in 2012, killing 22-year-old Rekia Boyd.
Protesters want Servin to lose his pension, saying that and all of the money allocated to the police department should instead be spent on keeping Chicago State University open and for health care and other services in minority communities.
Police used bolt cutters to separate the women. All 17 were later released and charged with obstructing traffic, police said.
