Chevron Cutting 500 Jobs From San Ramon Headquarters

SAN RAMON (CBS SF) -- Chevron is cutting 500 jobs from its San Ramon headquarters.

The company says it is part of an effort to reduce costs around the world by one-billion dollars.

Most of the layoffs have already happened, with the rest to be done by November.

3,200 people work at the San Ramon office.

Some of the jobs could come from the closing of a Concord office.

Chevron is also slashing hundreds of jobs in Houston.
