The popularity of ballroom, Latin and swing dance has grown immensely over the last few years. Swing dance clubs have popped up to satisfy the urge to shake your groove thing, show off your moves or simply learn how to triple step. Five of the best swing dance clubs in New York City are listed below.

Located on Restaurant Row in Manhattan's Theater District, Swing46 is the ideal location to enjoy good food, live music and swing dance seven days a week. Reservations are required only for dinner, but the meal isn't required to partake in the festivities.

Swing night happens every Monday at 8 p.m. during the Cotton Club Parade, made popular amid the historic Harlem nightspot's heyday. The current location is not the original, however a few musicians and vocalists that performed with the club's original big bands still grace the main stage. The swing and jazz bands start at 8:30 p.m. for a night of dancing that spans two large dance floors.

Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Bar URBO in Times Square hosts the Gotham Jazz Club. Live swing and jazz music sets the stage for a free beginner dance lesson at 7:10, followed by sets from timeless New York orchestras and bands. Admission is free, however cocktails are not, and outside food and drink is not permitted in Bar URBO. Enter via Eighth Avenue and 42nd Street.

The Salon takes over the DL rooftop overlooking Manhattan's Lower East Side, transforming the venue into the DL Speakeasy. This monthly party caters to "swingers, lindy hoppers, shaggers, loungers and vintage aficionados." Rain or shine, swing dance commences thanks to a retractable roof. There is no cover or a drink minimum, and a beginner swing lesson is offered at the beginning of the event.

The bi-monthly, sometimes monthly, Sock Hop kicked off last year at Iguana Café. Admission is only $15 from 7 to 11:30 p.m., and includes a $5 coupon off liquor, wine, beer or food or is good for 2 free sodas. Even if you don't have to know how to swing, the throwback into the music of the 50s and 60s will make you want to get up and dance.
