Five Free Agents Sacramento Could Pursue In Free Agency

The Sacramento Kings are still in the search for a head coach, but if the team doesn't improve the roster, it won't make a huge difference who the head coach is.

With the NBA Draft next month, and free agency in July, those will be two opportunities for the Kings to improve on a roster which only won 33 games last season.

The salary cap in the NBA is going to sky rocket next season which will allow the Kings, as well as the rest of the league, to throw out a ton of money in free agency.

It's unrealistic to think the Kings have a shot of acquiring big name free agents like Kevin Durant or LeBron James, but there are a number of very good players who will be free agents on Sacramento's radar.

Here are five players the Sacramento Kings could target in this year's free agency period:

1. Rajon Rondo - PG

Rondo spent last season with Sacramento where he played well averaging 11 points and 11 assists per game.

The former All-Star point guard signed a one-year contract with the team in the off-season last year. It's expected Rondo will demand a muli-year deal for more money per year during this off-season.

The Kings paid Rondo $9.5 million during his one-year deal.

The New York Knicks have been reported to having interest in signing Rondo as well. The big decision for the Kings will be how much money the team would like to spend on Rondo, if they feel he's still an essential part of the roster.

2. Ryan Anderson - PF

The eight year veteran in the league is a hometown boy and has not been shy about the fact that he loves to play in Sacramento.

With the new arena opening for the upcoming season, it would be a good time to bring in a guy who spent so much time at Arco Arena while growing up.

Other than his ties to Sacramento, he can also flat out ball. The definition of a stretch four, Anderson averaged 17 points per game for the New Orleans Pelicans last season.

He's a player who doesn't need to start to get his points. The Kings could rely on Anderson to come off the bench and score points along side Darren Collison.

3. Kevin Martin - SG

This would be another feel good signing for the Kings. Martin is a definite fan favorite in Sacramento after playing five and half seasons for the team.

Martin was on the last Kings team to make the playoffs back in 2006.

At this point in his career, he's not going to score 20 points per game, but if the Kings were interested in getting more production off the bench, he's a player they could count on for around 10 points.

He can get his own shot when a play breaks down or bury a shot off a screen. If the Kings want to sign Martin, they would most likely need to get rid of a guy like Marco Belinelli, as they are very similar players.

4. Kent Bazemore - SG

He isn't a big name, nor will he garner a lot of attention when he signs with a team, but he's a player who has shown to be a hard worker and a great teammate.

While on the Atlanta Hawks for the past two seasons, Bazemore has been one of the team's best perimeter defenders, which was a weak spot for the Kings last season.

He's been primarily a bench player throughout his career. He even became infamous for his crazy bench celebrations. He became a starter for the Hawks this season and averaged almost 12 points per game.

Bazemore would be a good locker room guy for Sacramento and would also provide production in areas of weakness for the Kings.

5. Matthew Dellavedova - PG

Dellavedova is another player who could help the Kings with great perimeter defense. The best word to describe him is scrappy.

He's the type of player you hate to play against, but would love to have on your team. His main role would be to get in the head of opposing point guards.

Dellavedova could come off the bench with Collison and provide the defense while Collison scores the majority of the points for the second squad.
