DNC Getaway Guide: Escape Far Away

The Democratic National Convention is coming to Philadelphia July 25-28. If you're already itching to get out of the city, here's a list of places that will get you far away... but close enough you can get there in a day.

Little Italy
Baltimore, MD

If you live in the Philadelphia area, chances are you've been to the Italian Market on South Street but did you know Baltimore has it's own piece of Italy too? And it's just a quick water taxi ride away from the inner harbor. Check out the Bocce League playing at D'Alesandro Park or grab some dinner at one of the many restaurants. Or stay even closer at one of the nearby accommodations.

SheiKra at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida
The first dive machine rollercoaster in America, SheiKra is named for a type of hawk known to plunge straight down for its prey. The coaster has a straight vertical drop and was converted to be floorless, so riders' legs dangle. (credit: Brian Marshall)

Busch Gardens

Williamsburg, VA 23185

Thrill seekers love this theme park for its roller coasters and the Water Country USA water park that compliments it nicely. No matter what type of food you may be hungry for at dinner, you'll be able to find it. The park has food and drink from seven different countries. Then maybe catch a show after you're done eating.
