Brawl Between HS Football Teams May Trigger Suspensions For Players, Including Snoop Lion's Son

DIAMOND BAR (CBSLA.com) — A massive brawl caught on camera involving two high school football teams may lead to suspensions for multiple players, including the son of rapper Snoop Lion.

The fight between Diamond Bar High School and Diamond Ranch High School erupted at a game last Friday. Video from the game shows fans from the stadium joining in.

The problem started late in the game, with only three minutes left to play. It was unclear who started the fight, but football players speaking off-camera told KCAL9's Brittney Hopper that a large number of players will be suspended as a result.

Among those rumored to be suspended is Cordell Broadus, Diamond Bar High School's standout receiver and the son of rapper Snoop Lion.

The game was ultimately cut short.

"Violence in any form is unacceptable. It's ridiculous," said Thomas Stubbs, the parent of a player on the Diamond Bar team. Stubbs said his son was not involved but believes something should be done to the players who were.

"They shouldn't let them get away with it," said Stubbs.

Both teams' coaches have reportedly expressed embarrassment over the incident, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Assistant Superintendent Kathy Granger of the Walnut Valley Unified School District issued a statement Tuesday that read:

"At this time the district has no comment. We are reviewing the situation internally and working with CIF to bring resolution to the issue."

The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) said it has completed its investigation and plans to make a public announcement about punishments as early as Wednesday morning.
