Nassau Police Officer Pleads Not Guilty, Alleges 'Trickery' Over Ticket
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - A black Nassau County police officer who claims she was the victim of discrimination by two of her white colleagues when she was arrested late last yer has pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.
The officer's lawyer said she's also the victim of trickery.
As WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported, Dolores Sharpe, a 19-year veteran of the force, was off duty when she was arrested while she was shopping on Black Friday.

Sharpe is back on the job after being suspended without pay for one month over her arrest for resisting arrest and harassment.
She claimed she was the victim of false arrest, racial discrimination and verbal and physical abuse during the incident.
In court Thursday, Sharpe was also arraigned on a charge that she had tinted windows. But her attorney said she was never given a ticket for that offense.
"That whole trickery is a problem that we're trying to deal with regard to this Nassau County Police Department, the District Attorney's office and they all should be ashamed," Fred Brewington said. "In this situation, how did it come about and when was it drafted, because if it was drafted and then backdated, there's another concern."
Sharpe was released on her own recognizance.
The DA's office and the police department had no comment.
