Restaurant Worker Found Fatally Stabbed In Venice

VENICE (CBSLA.com) — A 24-year-old man was fatally stabbed overnight in Venice, police said.

Guillermo Perez, of Venice, was found by a passerby around 12:15 a.m. near the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Pacific Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Perez, who worked two jobs as a cook, allegedly left work, stopped for a pack of beer, and walked down Washington Boulevard towards his home.

He suffered a stab wound to the chest and was taken to UCLA Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

A motive for the stabbing was still unknown after authorities browsed security video and canvased the area with K-9 units.

"If somebody saw something, please, I want to know who was it, who was the killer," Perez' wife said. "I want justice, that's all."

Perez, who was a husband and father of two, reportedly worked seven days a week to provide for his family.

"It's sad to see someone so kind and so gentle can leave work one night and not know that it's his last day," Mercedeh Ahrablou, owner of Perez' workplace Mercedes Grill, said.

The grill is accepting donations for Perez's family.

Anyone with information about the case should contact LAPD West Bureau Homicide Detectives Dave Vinton or George Bowens at (213) 382-9470.
