Former Bear Emery Moorehead: Football 'Tough Career' But Worth It

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago public high school athletes attended a symposium Saturday on what it's like to be drafted for the NFL.

The event took place at Chicago State University, where retired NFL players and current draft picks spoke to young athletes about what life is like before during and after making a team.

"It's a tough career but it's worth it," said former Bear Emery Moorehead, whose son, Aaron, also played in the NFL. Both have Super Bowl rings, Emery with the Bears and Aaron with the Indianapolis Colts

Emery Moorehead said the symposium also gave players an opportunity to tell kids about how much they learned during their careers when it came to discipline, losing and winning.

Moorehead says the most important thing is for athletes to use football and not let football use them.

The event was organized by the Retired Professional Football Players of Chicago.

The NFL Draft will be held in Chicago, starting on Thursday.

Moorehead is one of nearly 3,000 former NFL players suing the league, alleging a cover-up involving concussions and brain injuries.
