4-Year-Old Told Mother He Was 'Scared, Crying' During Chase
LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4) – The parents of a 4-year-old were reunited with their son after the boy was kidnapped at the beginning of an hour-long police chase that included two carjackings and several crashes.
The boy's role of the dramatic events of Wednesday morning came to an end when the suspect left him in the stolen SUV by the side of the highway, carjacked a vehicle and fled.
The incident began when Allen Chavarria-Rodriquez's mother, Martha Rodriguez, left her SUV to get coffee at the Bradley convenience store and gas station on Main Street in Longmont at approximately 6:20 a.m. The suspect, identified by police as Ryan Stone, 28 (Full Story), then jumped in the vehicle and fled the area.
The suspect then drove wildly around the metro area for about 30 minutes before ditching the SUV at Bromley Lane and I-76 in Brighton with Chavarria-Rodriquez still inside. The SUV apparently sustained a flat tire.

The boy told his mother that he was scared and crying the entire time.
"I stopped in the gas station and (when I came out) of the gas station my car was gone," Martha Rodriguez said. "The person (took) my car with my son in there. It's crazy."
Through a Spanish interpreter Martha Rodriguez said she was only in the store for a moment.
The SUV at one point reached speeds in excess of 80 mph during the chase with Chavarria-Rodriquez still in the SUV.
"We were advised not to get involved as far as throwing stop sticks or anything due to the fact that there was a 4-year-old in the van," a deputy said.
Chavarria-Rodriquez told CBS4's Suzanne McCarroll he was going to go home, play and take a nap.
"A lot of joy. There's been times when kids aren't found, and my son was found," Martha Rodriguez said.
The suspect was eventually taken into custody after crashing a carjacked Lexus at Lincoln Parkway and Peoria Street in Douglas County.
