Brett Brown Says "I'll Be Nervous" On Draft Lottery Night

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Sixers finished up the regular season the same way they started it, with a win over the defending champion Miami Heat. Neverthless, the Sixers finished the regular season 19-63, the second worst team in the NBA behind only the Milwaukee Bucks.

Most fans were understanding of the grueling re-building season the Sixers endured, in hopes of landing a top pick in the 2014 NBA draft. Of course, the NBA draft lottery is no guarantee. The NBA's worst team has not won the first overall pick since 2004 (Orlando Magic, 21-61) and the NBA's second worst team has not won the first overall pick since 2009 (Los Angeles Clippers, 19-63).

Not only are Sixers fans nervous about the lottery, but so is Sixers head coach, Brett Brown. Brown understands the importance of the lottery for the franchise.

"That night when you find out where you pick is a nerve-wracking night for me," Brown said after the Sixers beat the Heat to finish the regular season on Wednesday night. "I don't remember the last time you've been kind of nervous. That night I'll be nervous. It's a really important night for the club. We'll continue moving forward no matter what happens, but I would be lying if it said it any other way. There will be some anxiety with me."

The 2014 NBA draft lottery is on Tuesday, May 20th.
