Suspect Being Chased By San Francisco Police Strikes Pedestrian In SoMa, Drives Off To Oakland

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) – A car being chased by San Francisco police struck a pedestrian in San Francisco's South of Market late Tuesday night.

Police said officers in a marked car spotted a vehicle with a robbery suspect near 8th and Market Streets around 10:30 p.m. The driver led police on a chase and struck a pedestrian nearby.

The driver did not stop and police pursued the driver onto the Bay Bridge. Police said they lost the vehicle in Oakland near the 580 split.

The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to San Francisco General Hospital.

According to police, the suspect vehicle is described as a blue BMW four door.

Police have not released details about the driver involved in the hit-and-run.
