Business Expert Says The Heat Is No Excuse To Dress Down At Work
By Michelle Durham
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - In oppressive weather like this, some people are wearing less, but one expert warns that's not always a receipe for success in the workplace.
Business Etiquette Expert and author Barbara Pachter says hot weather is not an excuse to shed clothes. She says business standards need to be maintained in the dog days of summer.
"Wear thinner material, not see through!" she advises. "Silks, lightweight wools, some polyesters can be a lot cooler. And regardless, your clothing still needs to fit!"
Pearl works with people who don't prefer to ignore the rules.
"We have a dress code. We're not supposed to wear flip-flops to work, but they do," she explains. "You are not supposed to have your cleavage or backside showing, but they do!"
Brianna is seeing a lot of leg at the office these days.
"Miniskirts -- a lot of them. Some people can get away with it but some have too much to show off."
