Dodgers Place Clayton Kershaw On 15-Day DL

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) - The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed their ace Clayton Kershaw to the 15-day Disabled List after feeling discomfort to his back during his throwing session Saturday.

Kershaw had a stellar game in the opener, throwing 6 2/3 innings, allowing 1 run and getting the win against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

However, upon arrival from Australia, he notified the club of some back pain, forcing him out for the US opener Sunday against the Padres.

The two-time Cy Young winner  went through an MRI Tuesday and revealed inflammation to his back.

This will be the first time he will be on the DL list in his big-league career.

Hyun-Jin Ryu will be the starter against the San Diego Padres, Sunday
