No Charges Filed Over Suicide Of Greenwich High School Student

GREENWICH, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Greenwich police have determined that no charges will be filed after completing their investigation into the suicide of a teenager whose death sparked concerns about bullying.

Police said Friday the investigation did not cover any "articulation'' by 15-year-old Bart Palosz as to why he took his life. Palosz died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in August at his family's home after the first day of school.

Police say in suicides the motive often is not determined.

But Palosz's older sister told the Greenwich Time that there was evidence of her brother's suffering online. Beata Palosz also pointed to an arrest in a case involving bullying in Stamford.

One student at Greenwich High School questioned the fact that no charges were filed in this case.

"I think that there should have been an arrest, I think that there should have been charges pressed, I think there should have been a lot of other things because it can't keep happening. We can't keep losing lives," one student told WCBS 880's Paul Murnane.

Clubs and organizations against bullying have formed at the school as a result of the tragedy.

"I feel like the school's kind of become more of a community. I feel like we lost someone but we learned a lot from what happened," one student said.

First Selectman Peter Tesei has said he was told by people who knew Palosz that bullying might have contributed to his suicide.

School leaders have said they're looking into what happened to prevent a similar tragedy.
