Judge Tosses Lawsuit By Plaza Hotel Asking To Have Citi Bike Rack Removed

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Citi Bike rack near the Plaza Hotel will be staying right where it is.

A judge on Monday tossed out a lawsuit calling for the removal of the station. In the suit filed last October, the hotel claimed the racks were "an eyesore" and "unnecessary when there are other alternatives."

The suit also claimed that bike parking has taken away a lane of traffic, leading to congestion of limousines in front of the hotel.

Plaza officials claimed the city reneged on a promise to relocate the bikes, which is why they are moving forward with the suit.

The rack is not directly in front of the hotel, but rather at the edge of Grand Army Plaza across the street. The rack measures almost 150 feet.
