School Zone Speed Limits Back In Session

By Tim Jimenez

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) -- With class back in session in a lot of suburban districts, police and school officials want to remind drivers about taking it slow in school zones.

The flashing lights warning of the 15 mile per hour speed limit is now active again on Hulmeville Road in Bensalem.

Critical, especially on this stretch of road where there are a pair of middle schools and an elementary school close to each other.

"Hectic stuff cause people are in a rush and I just want to make sure the kids get in safe." said longtime crossing guard Terri Windfelder.

She helps get students, many who live in nearby apartments, across the busy road.
Everyday, getting in the middle of the street, holding up her stop sign and dealing with drivers.

"Just have to make sure people see what you're seeing. Make eye contact with drivers to make sure I'm stopping them. Let them know there are kids on the block that have to cross."

A safety issue that can cost those who are caught speeding. It's a potential 3 points on your license in Pennsylvania.
