Steelers Trade For Jaguars' Kicker Josh Scobee, Make Other Moves

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Steelers have traded for a kicker after Garrett Hartley suffered an injury this weekend.

The Steelers say they have acquired Josh Scobee from the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for a 6th round draft pick in the 2016 NFL draft.

Hartley suffered a hamstring injury during the Steelers' 43-19 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday.

Scobee has been the kicker for the Jaguars since 2004.

Scobee (6-1, 210) is entering his 12th NFL season after being selected by the Jaguars in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft out of Louisiana Tech University.

He has appeared in 168 regular-season games – all with Jacksonville – and has connected on 235-of-291 field goal attempts (80.8 pct.) and 317-of-322 extra point attempts for 1,022 points.

Among active kickers, Scobee ranks eighth in field goals made (235) and ninth in points (1,022). Scobee will wear No. 8.

Scobee would be the third kicker for the Steelers already this preseason. Previously, Shaun Suisham suffered an ACL injury in the team's preseason opener.

The Steelers have also made several roster changes, trimming their roster to the league-mandated 75 players prior to tomorrow's deadline, the team announced.

Pittsburgh has placed offensive tackle Mike Adams on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List. He is ineligible to practice or join the active roster until after Week Six of the regular season.

The Steelers have placed cornerback Senquez Golson and kicker Garrett Hartley on the team's Reserve/Injured List.

Pittsburgh also placed tight end Cameron Clear, defensive end Niko Davis and tight end Ray Hamilton on the team's Waived/Injured List.

The Steelers have released guard Miles Dieffenbach, wide receiver Kenzel Doe, wide receiver C.J. Goodwin, running back Braylon Heard, defensive end Joe Kruger, defensive tackle Joe Okafor, offensive lineman Collin Rahrig, cornerback Jordan Sullen, offensive tackle Kevin Whimpey and safety Ian Wild.
