Floating Park Among Summer Plans For Penn's Landing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A floating park is coming to Philadelphia.

The Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC) announced Friday it plans to build the water-borne pop-up park on a series of floating barges near the Penn's Landing Marina.

According to a press release, the park will be accessible to Philadelphians throughout the summer months and will include a boardwalk, an "urban beach," lily pad water gardens, a pop-up restaurant and bar and nets that will allow guests to literally hang out on the water.

To be called the Spruce Street Harbor Park, the temporary green space will open in July. Organizers say it's similar to this year's successful Waterfront Winterfest, a temporary winter garden that was located at the RiverRink.
