Former Judge Arrested On Sexual Exploitation Charge

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – A former judge and magistrate is out of jail after being arrested for allegedly attempting to engage in sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old boy.

Arapahoe County investigators arrested Jeffrey Lane, 58, Friday night at his home in Arapahoe County. Lane previously served as a municipal judge in Castle Rock and Parker and as an Arapahoe County Magistrate.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office reports Lane was caught by the Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children division. According to the sheriff's office, Lane was communicating over the Internet with what he thought was a 14-year-old boy.

Investigators say Lane "detailed how he wanted to engage in sexual intercourse with the 14 year old." Police also say Lane sent naked photos of himself and asked the 14-year-old to do the same.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office says after his arrest the former Judge admitted to communicating with the 14-year-old for sex.

Reached by phone Tuesday afternoon, Lane told CBS4 his lawyer "advised me not to talk to anyone about anything. I'm not going to talk about anything."

He was arrested Friday and released from the Arapahoe County Jail Friday evening on $50,000 bond. He is being charged with Internet luring of a child and Internet sexual exploitation of a child -- both felonies.

Lane's attorney, Craig Truman, declined to discuss the case saying he was confident that when all the facts were known, justice would be done. Court documents indicate Lane's next court date is March 6.
