Boston's Best Places For Families To Watch The Game

Sports bars aren't always the most conducive spots for a family gathering. But what happens when parents want to watch the game and don't want to hire a babysitter? Luckily, there are a number of spots here in Boston that are family friendly, yet also provide the beer and T.V. quotient required for that all important game atmosphere. Here are five of the best places for families to watch the game.

Woody's Grill & Tap
58 Hemenway St.
Boston, MA 02115

Woody's Grill & Tap is located on Hemenway Street in between Norway and Burbank streets, serving up the most kid-friendly food imaginable... pizza! The pies over at Woody's aren't just your average greasy spoon deals, but some seriously delicious pizza goodness, with a seemingly innumerable amount of combinations available to ensure that the whole family is stuffed and happy. Of course, the bar menu and sports on the tube makes Woody's Grill & Tap particularly recommended for sports fan parents, as well.

Heading to the Back Bay area of Boston for our next family-friendly game spot, Champion's Boston Sports Bar & Restaurant is a hotel bar located within the Copley Place Marriott on Huntington Avenue, and provides a relative safe haven from the often loud, boisterous and profanity-ridden atmosphere of a typical Boston sports event. In other words, families can come to Champion's and enjoy tasty bar food, cold beer and a relaxed vibe, which nicely fits the bill for both parents and kids.

The Kinsale is our next destination, located on Center Plaza right in downtown Boston. This Irish pub is open afternoons for lunch, making it a great place for the family to watch an early game, while enjoying the classic comfort food fare The Kinsale has to offer. Indeed, whether it's classic shepherd's pie or The Kinsale's advanced take on tater tots (featuring truffle and parmesan), this combination of down home eats, cold beer and friendly atmosphere ensure a good time will be had by families.

When the Red Sox are enjoying some rest and relaxation during the offseason, it wouldn't be that odd of a sight to see families enjoying beer and lunch over at Boston Beer Works while watching the game on T.V. Located right on Brookline Avenue in the Fenway Park area of Boston, Beer Works is a bit of a tourist draw, but also benefits from being relatively relaxed during the day, making this a prime spot for families to grab lunch and a beer while catching that early game.
